It's time to open the pool!
NPA Community,

We are very excited to announce that our pool will be opening Monday, June 8 at 12 noon.  Member volunteers, the NPA staff and NPA Board have been working diligently over the past few weeks so we can be ready for opening day!
With this exciting news, we also need to highlight the guidelines and recommendations that have been set forth by the CDC, Office of the Governor, and the Kent County Health Department.  These recommendations have been fluid and evolving over time, but we are implementing and enforcing the additional NPA Rules and Regulations listed below to improve everyone’s safety.  We will continue to seek guidance and monitor the changing recommendations, and we ask for your patience and understanding this season as we try to balance safety and summer fun.  Additionally, while the NPA Board is taking necessary steps to mitigate risk, all families must sign a waiver acknowledging that in visiting the pool, there is a potential risk of COVID exposure and are agreeing to follow the Additional NPA Rules and Regulations set forth by the NPA Board.

Additional NPA Rules and Regulations:
  1. Do not come to the pool/park if you or a family member have traveled within the last fourteen (14) days to a high-risk area, has a fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, a sore throat, a headache, or loss of taste or smell. In general, stay home if you or your family members have symptoms like the flu or do not feel well.
  2. All visitors must follow social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including remaining at least six feet from people outside of the individual’s household to the extent feasible under the circumstances.
  3. It is recommended for all visitors to wear a face covering over his or her nose and mouth—such as a homemade mask, scarf, bandana, or handkerchief—when in any enclosed public space, unless the individual is unable medically to tolerate a face covering.
  4. The number of visitors within the pool area (deck and water) will be limited to one hundred (100) people as the pool is considered an outdoor social gathering among persons not part of a single household, and bather capacity will be limited to fifty-two (52).
    • NPA will be removing some of the chairs/loungers on the pool deck to help regulate the number of visitors and improve social distancing among persons not part of a single household.
    • Guests will be allowed this year, but will be subject to capacity limits.  The Guest fee for the 2020 season is $6 per person.Guests must be accompanied/sponsored by a member.
  5. Visitors will enter the pool area through the restrooms and exit the pool area through the rear gates to the parking lot or playground.  This is necessary to help maintain one-way traffic flow and improve social distancing.
  6. Please come to the pool in your swim clothing and limit usage of the restroom areas. You may use the newly installed deck shower before entering the pool.
  7. All visitors entering the pool area must be checked in at the beehive.Only one person from each group is required for check-in.Follow the social distancing markers to help maintain safe spacing.
  8. The community room will be closed to all visitors until further notice.  This is due to the high touch surfaces, limited space, and inability to maintain one-way traffic flow.We will evaluate this rule as we move into additional phases of the Governor’s MI Safe Start Plan.
  9. Communal pool toys will not be available for use until further notice.  However, visitors will be allowed to bring their own (permitted) pool toys for personal use.
  10. Visitors using the diving board need to follow social distancing markers to help maintain safe spacing.
  11. Guests are required to spray down their chairs with NPA provided spray bottles before they leave.

As part of our safety plan, we will be increasing cleaning of common touch point around the pool deck and restrooms.  It is important to note that according to the CDC there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.  NPA has a consistent good standing with the Kent County Health Department for proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection of our pool.

If you have not signed up for your membership, it's not too late!  Click on this link to apply online or you may fill an application and pay at the pool.  https://www.northvillepark.org/purchase.html

Thank you for your patience and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.

Looking forward to opening day,
The Northville Park Association Board
